The vision of this website is to improve the quality of explanations. Among the ways that it tries to accomplish this are the following.

• Provide a clear definitions of terminology
• Offer more precise validation criteria for quality explanations
• Survey the different kinds of explanations
• Describe the various existing theories of explanation
• Collect pointers to the relevant literature of the field and to related external resources
• Present a summary of the human factors related to explanations
• Offer an approach, called explanatory frameworks, for precisely describing explanations and their assumptions
• Compare visitors' ideas of adequate explanations with those of others via a set of interactive explanation scenarios

The above items are a start; however there is still much to do, and your help is solicited. Some of the possibilities that come to mind are the following.

• Provide a forum to discuss issues related to explanations
• Solicit community contributions, a la Wikipedia
• Gather reviews of the articles on the References page
• Critique the explanations offered elsewhere, such as those at the Edge website
• Collect more scenarios with additional clarifying discussions
• Fill out the definitions of explanation frameworks
• Begin to build automated tools for evaluating written explanations
